Congressman Jim Himes Joins Catholic Charities’ Meals on Wheels Team for a Special Delivery

Stamford, CT – On March 19, 2025, Congressman Jim Himes joined Catholic Charities of Fairfield County’s Senior Nutrition Program (SNP) for a Meals on Wheels delivery, experiencing firsthand the vital role this program plays in supporting homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Accompanied by Senior Nutrition Program (SNP) Director Maureen Neuberger, the SNP team, and dedicated delivery drivers, Congressman Himes helped deliver nutritious meals, a friendly visit, and a wellness check to those who rely on Meals on Wheels not just for food, but for human connection and safety.

“For many homebound seniors, a knock on the door is more than just a meal – it’s a lifeline,” said Maureen Neuberger. “Meals on Wheels ensures that vulnerable individuals receive proper nutrition and regular check-ins to support their well-being.”

Catholic Charities’ Senior Nutrition Program serves over 600 meals daily across Fairfield County through Meals on Wheels and Community Café sites, ensuring that older adults receive healthy, balanced meals that meet one-third of the recommended daily dietary intake.
