MEALS ON WHEELS
Senior Nutrition Program
Stamford (greater Stamford and Norwalk)
Catholic Charities of Fairfield County, Inc. has sponsored the Senior Nutrition Program for more than 37 years serving over 400 elderly individuals on a daily basis. We provide nutritious meals, through Meals on Wheels, and at Senior Community Café sites, to individuals 60 years and older. There is a suggested donation to help cover the meal costs.
Services
- Meals on Wheels delivers healthy meals, human connection and a watchful eye for millions who are vulnerable at a time when they need it most.
- Meals On Wheels satisfies the nutritional needs of the homebound elderly and disabled by providing a well balanced meal and a safety check.
- Community Café Program: Café meals are offered at 8 meal sites throughout lower Fairfield County. Seniors benefit from dining in a group setting coupled with options to participate in activities ranging from Bingo to Tai Chi.
Catholic Charities’ Senior Nutrition Program is funded in part by the federal Older Americans Act through the Southwestern Connecticut Agency on Aging. Individuals age 60 or over are eligible for services under the approved project. For more information, you can also visit www.SWCAA.org.

Success Story from Senior Nutrition Program’s Meals on Wheels
One of our Meals on Wheels clients, George, lives in the Norwalk area – he’s been on the program since 2019, he is a veteran, lives alone, and has multiple health issues. He’s so grateful for the meals as they have kept him out of the hospital and he finds comfort knowing he can always count on the delivery, especially because his family does not live in the area.
He has a wonderful rapport with the Driver who meets him at the front door of the building daily – they chat about the Yankees and it gives the Driver an opportunity to provide a daily safety check. On the rare occasion the Driver arrives and he is not home, he calls George to ensure he is ok.
